Can I read your directions while entering my information into the system?
YES!
At the very top left of your browser there is a choice for "File." Select File with your mouse, then click on "New." Select "Window" in Internet Explorer or "Navigator Window" if you are using a Netscape browser. Now you will have 2 windows open. One with this help page in it and the other one showing the information to complete your task.
 
Do you recommend one browser over the other?
YES!
Microsoft Internet Explorer. It's faster and much more efficient. You can get it for free at the
microsoft.com web site.
 
How much does it cost to become a member?
Nothing. It's FREE!
 
How do I become a member?
It's easy!
  1. Click on the "Members" link on the left menu bar. Select your age range. If you are older than 18, select "older than 18" then submit. Another selection will display asking whether you are an "Individual" or "Business." Choose the one that fits your situation then click "submit."
  2. Fill out the form and click "submit." You will then receive an email with your temporary password and a link to activate your account.
  3. After clicking on the link in the email you will be taken to an "Activation Page." Enter the Screen Name you provided and the temporary password we sent you in the email. Click on "Activate Account". You should receive a page that states your account has been activated.
  4. That page should also have a link taking you to the Members Area. Click on that link.
  5. I now suggest changing your password to something easier to remember.
  6. On the right side of your member page you will see a link to change your password. Click on that link.
  7. Enter the temporary password we sent you in the email, then enter the password you prefer. You will need to enter your new password twice. Click "change my password". Now click on the link to go to the member area.
    That's it!
How do I edit my member information?
  1. Go to the Members page by clicking on the Members link on the left menu bar. Login by entering your Screen Name and password.
  2. You will notice a link to "Update information." Click on that link.
  3. You can now modify your information. When you have changed the information you wish changed, click on "Apply changes." Changes are effective immediately.
Do I need to become a member to add my business listing or classified ads?
Yes, it is mandatory. This is simply to keep the integrity of the system and to ensure your security as a member. It also makes for much faster transacationstransacations with future entries. Once your membership information is complete, adding a sponsor ad or classified is much easier. Most of the fields will be filled in for you. As an example, there is no need to keep filling in the same information every time you wish to place a classified ad.

Prices vary depending on the level of sponsorship you choose. Click here to review your options.
 
How do I become a sponsor? (add my business)
  1. Go to the Members area. If you are not logged in, please do so. After logging in, your will notice a link to "Submit a storefront". Click on that link.
  2. Most of the fields are already filled in for you. Please check that they are correct. Select the type of storefront (sponsorship) you desire; Bronze, Silver or Gold. If you are not sure of the differences click on the link just above to see the samples and descriptions.
  3. Next select your category. Then select your sub-category (within the category you selected above.
  4. Select a local organization if you wish or you can leave it blank.
  5. Select a sales rep, in this case leave it blank.
  6. Now click on "continue".
    *You will have 20 minutes to complete each section.* If you take longer, the system will log you out and you will need to do it again. If you feel you may be running out of time, a good way to avoid being logged out would be to submit your storefront, then go back and edit it. This way by hitting the submit button, the clock resets for another 20 minutes.
  7. Enter your Summary Description" first. This is what is displayed on the main listings page.
  8. Now enter your "Full Description". This is displayed when a user clicks on the Fill Description link within your summary listing. I suggest copying your summary description into your full description. You don't have to, just a suggestion.
  9. Click "continue", review your listing and if all is well, click "accept".
  10. Now you are taken to the payment area. Select your preferred payment type. Follow the instructions to complete your sponsorship.
You will then receive a confirmation page.
Our administrator will review your entry for acceptance. Generally within 24 hours you will be notified of whether your sponsorship was accepted by the BuildYourCommunity administrator.
 
How can I edit my sponsor ad?
  1. Go to the Members page by clicking on the Members link on the left menu bar. Login by entering your Screen Name and password.
  2. You will notice a link to "Edit storefront". Click on that link.
  3. You can now modify your storefront information. When you have changed the information you wish changed, click on "Apply changes". Changes are effective immediately.
Can I upgrade my sponsor ad?
YES!
One of the options in the edit storefront feature is the ability to upgrade from a Bronze to a Silver or Gold or from a Silver to a Gold package.
 
Can I add my sponsor ad to multiple categories?
YES!
And you will receive an additonal 50% discount.
 
How much does it cost to place a classified ad?
  • Individual Listing (non corporate) The extended display also includes your first name (only), city, state, zip code, phone number (optional) and email address on your own mini web page. If you are an individual your classified ads are free!
  • Corporate Listing The extended display also includes your company name, address, city, state, zip code, phone number, email address and web site URL. Business classified ads are $3 per ad and will remain on the system for 30 days. If you are a current sponsor of the BuildYourCommunity and have a sponsorship listing, your first 3 business classified ads are free! Please contact us at 410-356-7900 to discuss our special classified ad rates for 25 or more classified ad listings.
How can I submit a classified ad?
  1. First go to the Members area. If you are not logged in, please do so. After logging in, your will notice a link to "Submit a classified". Click on that link.
  2. Most of the fields are already filled in for you. Please check that they are correct.
  3. Add your Classified Title.
  4. If you have a photo located anywhere on the Internet you can add that web address in the "image address" box, if not, leave that box blank.
  5. Select your "classified type".
  6. Choose the category that best suits your product or service.
  7. Choose the sub-category that best suits your product or service.
  8. Click on "Continue".
  9. Enter your summary description, then enter your full description. You may want to repeat your summary description into your full description area.
  10. Click "Continue".
  11. Review your ad. If it correct, click on "accept".
  12. Your ad will be reviewed by the administrator. You will receive an email when you ad has been approved.
 
How can I edit my classified ad?
  1. First go to the Members area. If you are not logged in, please do so. After logging in, your will notice a link to "Edit your classified". Click on that link.
  2. Most of the fields are already filled in for you. Please check they are correct.
  3. Make any modifications you wish, then submit your changes. That's it!
How can I remove my classified ad?
Simple! Just email the administrator requesting your ad be removed. Please put your Screen Name and the classified ID that was contained in the email you received when your classified ad was approved.
 
Does the administrator always have to approve my classified ads?
No! That is simply a protective measure we take. After a couple ads are placed, you can email the administrator requesting "pre-approved" status on your account. That will allow your ads to be "live" on the system as soon as you submit them.
 
How much does it cost to display a coupon?
Prices vary depending on the length of time you want the coupon displayed. Click here to review the options available.
 
How can I submit a coupon?
Easy as filling out a short form.

Just email the administrator requesting your changes. Please put your Screen Name and the coupon you wish changed in the message area of the email.
 
What is included in the sponsorship package?
  1. Your storefront will be displayed for an entire year.
  2. You get a coupon for the first 30 days of your membership.
  3. You may place 3 free classifieds every month for the duration of your sponsorship.
  4. A portion of your sponsor dollars will go directly to a local charitable organization of your choosing (list of organizations is located on the site).
